The department SAMU-Urgencies gathers several units constituting a significant sector of activities in the Hospital complex of French Polynesia.

These units are as follows:

  • SAU (Service of Reception of the Urgencies),
  • UHTCD (Unit of Hospitalization of Very Short Duration),
  • Chamber for hyperbaric treatment,
  • SAMU (Service of Medical aid of Urgent),
  • SMUR
Some of these units are well developed and present an operation difficult but still acceptable or adapted to the needs for French Polynesia (SAU, SMUR, SAMU, CESU, Chamber for hyperbaric treatment). Other units are, at the present time, at the state of project (Consultation of general medicine or medical house, medico-legal unit, SAUS or psychiatric unit of reception, CESU).
To date, the department is animated by 21 doctors (3 doctors full time referents and 18 doctors in continuous medical time) and 2 general nurses (1 dedicated SAU + Caisson and 1 for the SMUR).
